Logitech R500 Pointer Review

The R500 features a simple design. It goes right in the palm of your head and features a soft button textured and anti-skid rubber surface. Both of these allow for smoother and more convenient functionality, ensuring that the device is not released from your hand, or that you accidentally pressed the wrong button.

The Logitech R500 Laser Presentation Remote allows you to control your presentations wirelessly, efficiently, and comfortably. This compact controller is only 12.3 x 3.6 x 2.4 cm and weighs around 0.5 kg (with battery / without a USB receiver.)

The receiver is small, compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10, and macOS X 10.12 or advanced macOS versions. The R500 receiver is also compatible with Chrome OS, as well as with Linux 2.6 and other sophisticated Linux systems.

Bluetooth connectivity compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 10 systems, Mac OS X 10.1 and updated Mac OS systems, Android 5.0+ and iOS 8+. Note that the device must have an internet connection to download the required software.

Logitech R500 has a direct control panel with three buttons: laser, next and previous. It has an operating range of 20m, which can vary depending on the environment as well as computer settings.

The R500 is also connected to the Logitech Presentation application, which allows you to adjust the Next and Previous buttons, but also set a timer on the presentation. Moreover, you can use the application to monitor battery life and to keep your computer active.

Overall, the R500’s function is very smooth. The 3-button system helps eliminate confusion, allowing you to focus on the screen — no need to worry about whether you pressed the wrong button.

Most importantly, the laser is accurate. Fast and bright. For the record, the R500 also features a Power Saving mode. We didn’t use it because the review period was short, but when activated, it will deactivate the laser, giving you extra battery time for a week.

The Bad > No USB charging

The Good > Great battery life, Integrated red laser pointer, Ergonomic

Conclusion > Recommended for office workers, advisors, salespeople, teachers, professors, and students who need simple, convenient, and very reliable Presentation Remote.
