Logitech M585 Mouse Review
The new design on the M585 is a big departure from the M545, which is brave and has a little feeling. It looks fun, modern and round, matching the new look of the Logitech logo. Like it!
Our favorite feature on the M545 is the thumb button, and we glad Logitech saved it on the new M585. They sit right under your thumb and can be customized to perform various functions in the Logitech software, only on Windows & Mac.
These new buttons are very similar to Tic Tacs; super cute but we like the shape and feel of the old button better. In case there aren’t enough additional buttons for you, sliding the scroll wheel left and right can also be assigned to a function.
There is an arch at the side, which allows your thumb to rest comfortably. Unlike the M545 which has bows on both sides, M585 only has it on the left side. Not a mouse for left-handed.
M585 is larger than M545, but it will be very comfortable to hold once you get used to it. You might have noticed the button and the 2 indicator lights in the middle. This is used for multi-device connections, which I will discuss shortly.
Surprisingly, the wireless dongle on the M585 is bigger than the old M545, more prominent when it is plugged into a USB port. Still relatively small and unobtrusive.
The Bad > Design not left-handed friendly, Super loud clicks (M590 solves this),Bluetooth not compatible with certain phones
The Good > Sleek new design, Comfortable shape, Customizable thumb buttons, Super smooth scroll wheel with more precision, Multi-device & Logitech Flow, Connect via Bluetooth or wireless dongle, Really attractive price, especially during sales
Conclusion > If you are looking for a productivity mouse with a limited budget, We highly recommend M585. Although there are some changes that I don’t like, the M585 improves in many aspects, which makes it more fun to use from a productivity point of view.
