Logitech G613 Gaming Keyboard Review

G613 has an unfavorable pedigree. Out of the box, it looks like the Logitech G213 is short-lived, entry-level keyboards that are experimenting with special “mech-dome” switches, rubber domes that are said to feel like true mechanical switches. Should. The reality is almost not exciting.

G213 suffers from another problem. The construction does not feel very durable, with the chassis flexing an annoying amount if you place a slight load in the center. So that the G613 uses the same basic design as the G213? That is not the best first impression.

There are some changes, considering the G613 is a wireless keyboard. There is a battery compartment in the bottom, calling for two AA (included) – and with room to store wireless dongles too. Two AA batteries last “for up to 18 months,” as Logitech said. It’s an entirely useless descriptor, and We prefer Logitech to count it in hours, but the point is: The battery lasts a long time. The 18-month number has to do with Bluetooth as far as We know when using the G613 on the Lightspeed wireless settings will reduce life a little. Even so, one year is decent enough for a wireless keyboard.

You will find an on / off switch on the right side of the keyboard, for those who are militant in maintaining every ounce of battery life. Between the media buttons, you will find two buttons to switch between Bluetooth wireless mode and Lightspeed that this is the only backlit button.

The Bad > Romer-G Tactile switches still aren’t our favorite, No backlighting on the main keyboard, Wrist rest feels like overkill when using the G613 on a desk

The Good > Lasts up to 18 months on two AA batteries, Media keys are easily distinguished, Dual Bluetooth and Lightspeed wireless modes

Conclusion > Logitech G613 can benefit from backlighting, especially as living room use, but its long battery life and multiple mounting options make it a sturdy mechanical keyboard for cable haters.
