Logitech Anywhere MX 2S Review
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is an exceptional travel mouse that offers solid ergonomics in a compact form factor. That won’t get you far in precision or adjustable features, but the battery’s durability is extraordinary. Add to it several device options – not to mention cross-platform compatibility – and it’s a fantastic mouse for professionals and business travelers.
Design: Small and Slim
Logitech has a consistent aesthetic throughout the MX and MX Anywhere 2S product line is no exception. This mouse has a distinctive layout with left, and right buttons and the scroll wheel sandwiched between them. Besides, Logitech has included a square button behind the scroll wheel and two forward and back buttons on the side of the mouse’s thumb.
The model we tested was graphite, also available in light gray (whiter) and midnight colors for those who want a little more seasoning in their lives. The top of the mouse coated with rubber plastic, which has a robust matte taste. The sides are smooth, semi-glossy plastic while the rest of the thumb is the faceted version of the rubber plastic found at the top of the mouse.
The Setup Process: Simple and easy
Setting up a mouse is as simple as inserting a battery into the mouse, plugging in a Bluetooth receiver, and turning on the mouse. We tested Logitech MX Anywhere 2S with Windows and macOS devices, and there were no problems with both connections. Further changes can be made in each operating system’s settings, and there are also options to adjust the mouse with Logitech Options. An additional program for Logitech devices that adds the ability to switch what the button does, change various usage modes, and check battery life.
Wireless: Power saving and fast
Logitech MX Anywhere 2S features Bluetooth Low Energy technology and a particular Unifying receiver (2.4GHz) to connect to Windows and macOS computers. In testing more than forty hours on several devices, we noticed a slight, if any, difference between using the included receiver and standard Bluetooth connectivity. The battery life is no more or less better, and the Logitech Options software functions regardless of the means of connection.
Performance: More than good enough for the necessary work
Logitech doesn’t market Anywhere 2S as a high-performance game or mouse, but it certainly needs inspiration from the more sophisticated Logitech mouse. It features Dots Per Inch (a measure of how sensitive the mouse is) ranging from 200 DPI to 4000 DPI, which can be set using Logitech Options software with an increase of 50 DPI.
We use mice on a variety of surfaces, from essential white desktops to bamboo and glass. Apart from the glass desktop area where there are scratches, the “Darkfield high precision” sensor has no problems to keep up with the movement. Lag isn’t seen regardless of the means of connection, and once set on the device, switching from one pc to another one is not a problem.
Comfort: Not bad for a travel mouse
As expected of a compact travel mouse, Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is not quite an ergonomic masterpiece like its more significant era. However, it feels good in the hand, and the contoured thumb helps cradle the mouse. We spent more than 40 hours testing the mouse, which was enough to get the right taste for it for a long time. That’s convenient, but we wouldn’t recommend using this as a full-time mouse unless you have small hands and want a no-frills mouse. That said, for an economical option, it does a fantastic job.
Software: Lots of adjustments
Logitech has two accompanying programs that work with the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S mouse: Logitech Options and Logitech Flow.
The Logitech option is available for Windows and macOS computers. Once downloaded and installed, it gives full control over every button and mouse function that offered. We can change what the two side buttons control, replace the left and right mouse clicks, and adjust sensitivity all from within the program.
Price: Expensive, but worth it for the discerning traveler
With a cost of $ 79.99 (MSRP), Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is far from cheap. Yes, it has some unique features that other travel mice do not offer, but even with added convenience, it is not negotiable. As we will note below, there are several alternatives out there that have to get work done at a much lower price point.
- Nowhere to store USB receiver
- Somewhat expensive
- It works seamlessly across multiple devices
- Works on nearly any surface
- Rechargeable battery
- Smooth scrolling
Conclusion > The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is a compact wireless mouse that can fit in your pocket and work with multiple devices.
