Logitech G Farm Sim Heavy Equipment Bundle Review
As someone who enjoys playing various simulator-based games, I was pleased when Logitech announced the Heavy Equipment Precision Control System. While I am interested in seeing how it will add to the Farming Simulator experience, I also want to know how it will interact with other simulation games such as Euro Truck Simulator 2. After opening the box, there are many things to try with, including the steering wheel, pedals, and the side panel control deck, not to mention a lot of setting up whenever you want to use a hardware set. Fortunately, the actual setting process of gripping the steering wheel and panel to a table or other surface is easy with the vice grip type buttons. Then it’s just a step of connecting their two USB connectors to your PC and connecting the pedals to the base of the steering wheel.
What’s in the box
As mentioned, the full set will give you three hardware items. Also, hardware can be purchased separately in a steering wheel, and pedal package, and then gamers who are just looking for a side panel can buy it by themselves. All hardware packages are bundled for $ 300, while separately they are $ 150 for each set mentioned. This is a welcome choice from Saitek because it allows gamers who are not interested in farming per se to only take the side panel to use in games like Elite Dangerous or other titles that can take advantage of all the buttons and knobs.
For the official price of $ 300, I expect a lot from the hardware after using another steering wheel and pedal set from manufacturers such as Logitech. At first glance, everything looks great because it’s taken directly from the tractor. Details such as buttons on the steering wheel & both including joysticks on the steering wheel all check the right mark for an impressive package. Specifically, the side panel is the item that stands out from the set with all the buttons and various colored buttons and even the miniature joystick itself. Not only until you get the hardware you see, almost everything is just plastic. For example, the steering wheel is not close to the quality you find in other unique races that have rubber grips. The same is true for the included pedals, which do not feature any metal but again flexible plastic material.
The side panel also causes immediate disappointment only to find that toggle switches are not useful toggle. They are just simple buttons that are emulated to look as though they are switching, both of which are strange design decisions that lead to false gameplay impressions. Luckily the joystick that is included on the side panel is the most impressive feature because it is also a directional rotation feature and the ability to switch between different modes with the two buttons above. However, the included volume knob feels inappropriate from its loose nature. While the entire package together is undoubtedly the best-designed hardware for Farming Simulator, gamers who want to use sets in other games might be better off just buying side panels and then steering and steering pedals of higher quality.
During my time with hardware, I tested it with the following games: Farming Simulator 15, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and Dirt Rally. Prospective buyers should pay attention that each hardware item functions through the plug and play with Windows, and in my example, with Windows 10, there is no need for additional drivers or settings. All the games that I tested were able to detect the steering wheel, pedals, and side panels instantly in addition to all the additional joysticks and knobs. That is an uninterrupted hardware arrangement, which is a big plus for those who don’t want to bother installing drivers or worrying about game support. Gamers should know that when controller mapping is detected automatically with Farming Simulator 15, in other games, he must spend time mapping each button and its features.
Most of the time will probably be spent by adjusting the sweet spot turning the steering wheel directly and in-game, so they match each other’s rotation. In Euro Truck Simulator 2, it’s a simple process, while in Dirt Rally, it takes a little longer to find the sweet spot. The method of mapping controllers and adjusting other settings will ultimately depend on the game and I hope we will see more games that have a default profile for hardware sets.
It didn’t take long to see the added depth and realism added by the hardware when playing games like Farming Simulator. The keyboard and mouse are excellent, but there’s something about being turning your steering wheel when you harvest your cornfield. The experience of spinning the actual wheels and seeing the wheels in your game spin at the same angle, and it makes absolutely the best way to play driving simulators and racing games. Not to mention pressing the pedal to accelerate or reverse. While the steering wheel feels very good in the game, the brakes, on the other hand, often feel springy in terms of their responsiveness. I must also mention the extraordinary factor, which was the decision to put the knob on the steering wheel, which is standard on tractors, is a big plus in my book both for its appearance and its use in games to provide additional control.
Combined with an additional side panel control deck, many actions are now easier to do in Farming Simulator. The process before using a logging machine to cut down trees and move them is almost impossible with a keyboard and mouse. The side panel makes all operations as easy as completing other tasks in the game. The side panel is easily my favorite accessory of hardware that is set both for various buttons and buttons and their uses that stretch far behind only the Farming Simulator. In Euro Truck Simulator 2, the side panels are beneficial for mapping various boards and GPS settings. Another aspect of the side panel that is very helpful in all the games. That I try to look around the cockpit of your vehicle, I can imagine how useful the side panels are for other simulator-based games, especially those that you use to drive airplanes or futuristic spaceships.
Because the focus of this hardware is to be used with Farming Simulator, this is an easy recommendation if you are a fan of the series. Although it might be a little complicated each time to connect everything when you want to play, in the end, it’s worth the complexity for a more extended game session. Even for gamers who want to choose hardware that prepared for other simulator games such as Euro Truck Simulator 2, this is a good entry point with all the features it contains. Finally, the side panel control deck by itself is a recommended purchase for gamers who already have steering wheels and pedals and need additional buttons and knobs. The main disadvantage that I see is the hardware quality compared to the steering wheel and other pedal sets and the price for the whole bundle. The side panels themselves are $ 150 a little easier to manage, but $ 300 for the entire series seems to be more or less considering the build quality.
Without a doubt, this is the best hardware set for Farming Simulator, which adds more realism and depth to the playing experience. Besides, the side panel control deck makes an excellent accessory for other simulator-based games. While build quality might not justify the high price, Saitek’s Precision Machine Control System is a high starting point for anyone who wants to expand beyond the mouse and keyboard for their gaming experience.
